    Food Dehydrator Recommendations?

We have a three season porch that faces south and gets sun all day. I was thinking about using clear plexiglass to make a box with a few small holes drilled in the top for venting. It would be kind of like a solar dehydrator.

    Food Dehydrator Recommendations?

Does anyone know of a good and inexpensive food dehydrator? I don't care if it takes a long time to work because air drying takes forever anyways. Are they really noisy? I'm looking for something less than $100.00.

    Red Jalapenos?

You all convinced to wait until they are ripe. I thought when they turn green they are ripe but I learn something everytime I come here. I know I'm beating a dead horse but could you bread them in an egg wash after you stuff them then bake or grill them. Is there a way to keep the stuffing...

    Red Jalapenos?

Marc, I'm not really sure what I want to do with them. This is the first year I tried to grow them. I guess I'm looking for a different flavor when adding them to things. Or even for stuffing.

    Red Jalapenos?

Has anyone waited to harvest their jalapenos until they turn red? I read that they are sweeter and their heat is a little milder. I have been picking my green ones but I thought about waiting. Any comments?

    Crock pot Turkey Legs?

Sorry to be confusing Elsie. I meant putting the vegatables in the crock pot for the last hour of cooking after they have been roasted in the oven to try to impart the flavor of the veggies on the turkey legs.

    Crock pot Turkey Legs?

Thanks Elsie, that's what I kind of thought. I think I'll wait until the last hour.I would think that would be enough time to give the turkey some flavor. If it doesn't work I like your puree idea and maybe some mashed potatoes.

    Crock pot Turkey Legs?

I have four turkey legs I want to get rid of. I've already done turkey legs on the grill and smoker so I want to try something different. My idea was to brown the legs with some evoo in a frying pan then put them in the crockpot. Then roast whatever vegatables I have on hand with some garlic in...

    Freezing Jalapenos?

As I said in another thread. I just got back from vacation so my replies are late. Sorry folks. Kevin, thanks for the tip about freezing the peppers. My wife does that all the time and I had no idea . Yes, it has been hot and humid up here for the first time this summer but I'm not going to...

Indirect food in the front or back of the grill?

Just got back from vacation so my replies are late. Sorry. Anne, as Phil said about the metal. I bought them in 4' lenghts at Lowes and cut them to length, about 1/8" short. You can use a hack saw if you don't have a miter saw(some call it a chop saw). A regular wood blade will cut through the...

    Freezing Jalapenos?

Two things. I planted too many jalapenos to use. I can't keep up with them. Can I freeze them whole. Just pick them, bag them and put them in the freezer? Also, CONGRATULATIONS to Kevin Kruger on his upcomming 10,000 post. WOW!!!

    Multi-Meat Smoke Tomorrow, Thoughts?

I agree with Jim. That way you don't have to open the cooker until the butt is done. The butt will stay hot in the cooler for hours.

I am out of galic and I need some for a recipe. About how much garlic powder is equivalent to two cloves of garlic? I know it wont taste the same but my back is against the wall right now.

    Smoking at lower heats?

It looks to me like you have to drill a hole somewhere on the grill to attach the smoker. I'll pass on this equipment. Anne, if you don't think your smoker box will work...maybe you think the metal is too thick? Try making a aluminum foil pouch.

    Cilantro Flower

Thank you very much Kevin. That's exactly what I wanted to know.

    Cilantro Flower

Do I pick the seeds when they are green? Are those the seeds or are the seeds inside of the green things? Sorry for my ignorance

    Slide Aside or Tuck Away?

My slide-aside just hangs on the bowl by a couple of hooks.

    Cilantro Flower

Really, I didn't know that. Should I let the seeds dry for a bit before I use them?
