    My BBQ/outdoor cook box

Looks pretty similar, though a smaller version, of a "patrol box" we use in scouts. Would be interested in buying one though :-). Using a plastic tub currently.

Kingsford to Change the Original Formula for Jan 2010

I was at Wally World last Friday and they had 18 lb bags for $7.50. I thought that was expensive. I asked a friend of mine that worked there if the price will come down for the summer. He said he doesn't think so. Don't you think $7.50 for an 18 lb bag is kind of steep? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>...

Kansas > Kansas City: Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que (formerly Oklahoma Joe's)

Can't comment on AB's consistency because I only get there 1-2x/year and it has always been great, the same I can say for OK Joe's. I'm more of a fan of the vinegar bbq, the reason I favor AB.

Smoker on Order, What's your recommended first smoke?

I'm with chicken for a short cook and butt for a long cook. Will give you good info on your smoker (as mentioned above) and the longer cook will give you ideas on fuel usage.

Why don't I Like My Chicken?

One thing I do is pound the breast thinner and even thickness before brining or marinating. I also make slits in the meat. At least there is more surface area for the flavor and I think it gets more flavor into the meat.

Kansas > Kansas City: Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que (formerly Oklahoma Joe's)

OK Joe's is pretty good, though #2 for me in KC. Arthur Bryant's is my fav. Can't go wrong at either though.

New Weber cookbook due April, 2010

If the sides are different, should be worth picking up both. Always like getting new books and ideas.

    Dale's Apple Pie Shots

I've not tried this recipe yet but did the one Bryan had linked to earlier in the thread. Made it in a 4L fermentor I use for mead, did a triple batch except for the cinnamon sticks which I kept at two. Shook daily for a week and strained through cheesecloth. Turned out really, really good...

Pyrex Baking Dish Explosion with pic's

I'm impressed you took pictures. I'd been too angry to even think of pics. I've had both a pyrex and cornel white dish break in my hands in the past, been using metal, cast iron or stone since.

    First Smoke - Cold weather: 1 - Me: 0

We have 0F or below much of Jan & Feb and while I can cook long times it does take babysitting versus the set emp and let it go during the warm months. Unless I'm cooking for a large group, during the winter I cook smaller butts vs bigger ones and flats vs packers just so I can do a cook during...

    5 LB propane tank

When I worked at ACE Hardware we carried 5lb tanks, so you might want to check with them. We sold a lot of them to ice fisherman in the winter.

    KAHLUA

Tried it last night and today, better today than last night. Good stuff, like the lack of the "instant" twang. Mouth feel was solid. Will probably make a couple of tweaks on the next batch, up the alcohol (came in at 14%-15% ABV, want to bump it to 20%-22%) and bump up the coffee flavor a...

    Roadside Inspiration

As Bryan said, it works well with pork too. I've done a tenderloin and chops with it and both came out really good.

    KAHLUA

Quick question though, did a 25 minutes boil with the coffee (rather have too much coffee flavor than not enough) and both times ended up with 1.25-1.5 cups of coffee, would this be close to what you get?
