Getting started. What do I need.Best place to buy

Pete, Welcome! I have a couple of comments. 1. You just missed a sale on Kingsford Original (Blue) charcoal at Home Depot and Walmart. There will probably be another one on Labor Day weekend. I have been using KB and am pretty satisfied. I plan to give Royal Oak lump (sold at Walmart...

    BBQ Pitmasters season 3 premiere

The premiere was an improvement over Season 2. Similar, but without the snakes, gators, frogs, and sides. I like the format of season 1 much better.

    22-1/2 Lid Hook

I could hang mine but had to be very careful. I almost lost it once my concrete patio. I added a slide-a-side. If you get a slide-a-side, you need to know that it will make air leaks worse and you'll need to remove it if you want to save coals or put a cover on. I could get the cover on but...

    Electric Brinkman

I know someone who is an electric smoker guy. I know he's owned a Bradley and a Masterbilt. He used wood chips as I recall, but not sure. I do know he had a little trouble getting a good smoke ring, but he was a good cook. Just a set it and leave type of guy. Be sure you get the right size...

    BBQ Restaurant Owners

I've never considered it and don't know anyone real close that's ever gone into the business although I've know a few owners on a casual basis. The guys I know are mostly from rural West TN so Atl is likely to be alot different. These guys started years ago as more or less roadside stands...

Sooo, what are we smoking or grilling this holiday weekend?

I'll be at a reunion in Tunica, MS this weekend investing in my retirement. Ribs the next weekend though. Actually I will have ribs on Saturday night but my cousin's son from Memphis will be doing the cooking in Memphis. He's a competitive cooker and very good.

    Nomex Tape Seal...

Gary, how did this kit work out? Was it easy to install? Does the center piece still fit with the bottom and lid well? Does it seem like it will last? </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Andy, I still haven't gotten around to installing the nomex. I did start cleaning the rim but didn't finish the job. I...

What was your best kettle accessory purchase?

I use a slide a side on my OTG. More secure IMO than the lid hook. It's nice for grilling but creates a bit of an air leak that makes it harder to obtain lower temps. Also, I remove after cook to save charcoals and put on grill cover. I'm thinking about a ribolator for my OTS. Problem is...

    Freezing

I bought a Foodsaver (model V3840) a few months back while on sale for around $90. It's worked well so far. We don't use it a whole lot but enough to know we need to buy the bags on sale. I get an email on bag sales once every couple of weeks I guess. There are some alternative bag...

    Barbecuing on a wood deck

I don't have a wooden deck but I put my WSM on this large oil drain pan. It's probably big enough for 2 of the 18.5" WSMs. Nice place to set the lid. http://www.walmart.com/search/...straint=0&se=endeca&
