    Rotisserie questions for performer

As Chad said it will work but it is not ideal. I have used mine on my 09 Performer without any problems, although it definitely fits my 99 Performer and OTG better. Personally, I don't see it as a show-stopper one way or the other.

    Red Head Performer SS Top

Definitely over priced for my area, but sure is a good looking Performer.

    Summit E-670 Running Hot

It may just be the nature of a Summit but LMichaels might be right. My Summit 420 which has always been LP likes to cook hot on direct heat. It takes some getting used to because even on its lowest setting it is still cranking out some pretty good heat. I love the higher heat, but you really...

How long does your boston butt take to cook

Normal time for me is 12-15+ hours. Have had some burns go 17 or more hours. I always do 2 to 4 at a time. I don't use foil and maintain low and slow temps 225-250. The biggest variable when doing low and slow is how long of a stall you experience.

picked up a new OTG today

My rotisserie ring fits pretty loose also and has never been an issue. Congrats on the OTG.

    Distance of grates

I put my top grate 5 inches down from the top. I place the second grate on the tamale steamer rim which makes it 4.5 inches below the top grate.

many round holes or one big whole for the bottom of the pot?

I am not a big fan of chicken on the smoker. Just not my taste. I much prefer grilling chicken or making it on the rotisserie. That said, I am not sure temps in the 225-275 range as my configuration likes to settle will get you crispy skin without throwing it on a grill to finish. As I said...

many round holes or one big whole for the bottom of the pot?

I went the other route with a SJG and drilling holes in the bottom. Here is a link that describes my build. My son also did one just like mine. I used a SJG because I already had one on hand when I started. The SJG doesn't require anything special in terms of keeping the air flow open and...

    Chuck Eye Steak

Chuck eye steaks have become one of our family's absolute favorite cuts. Easy on the wallet and great on taste. Just keep this to yourself or the prices will start going through the roof like they have for tri tip and skirt steaks. As Bob said, treat them like a rib eye and they will be great.

FIRST PHOTO: 14.5" Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker Model 711001

Are there any actual dimensions listed or internal pictures? Interested in how it compares against the typical mini WSMs many of us have built.

Well I guess I am getting a Performer Platinum!

You can use either the skinny 14.1 oz or fat 16.4 oz disposable cylinders. I think some folks have connected 20 lb bottles also, but to me the disposables last plenty long as it is.

    My new Q100 CL grill

I just use mine as is with the thinner bottles. I bought one of the hoses to use a regular propane tank, but have yet to use it either. I guess if it were one of my primary grills that I cooked with constantly especially in one location, those type of modifications would make a lot of sense...

    18.5 Performer or Frankenweber?

What a great find that is. I would love to find one like it. Definitely worth the money.

Found this at the dump yesterday!

Great find. I have had best results with tough clean up using oven cleaner along with a plastic putty knife and some of those cheapo soap pads from the Dollar Store. You need to really watch the run off because it will mess up the aluminum if it comes in contact with it.

    5 yr old Performer Platinum...

Just saw this thread so I might be too late with this info. Below is a picture of an older model Performer (1999) next to one of the newer models (2009). Not sure when they quit making the older model with the SS table, but pretty sure it was more than 5 years ago. In addition to the...

    Desserts on the Grill

I like to make cobblers and crisps on the kettle. Basic indirect set up is easy to maintain a perfect 350 degrees. I use this same basic set up for all of those. Nice thing about crisps in particular is that you can make one out of about anything that is seasonal or on sale. Only thing you...

What are you cooking on your mini?

I've done fatties, ribs, chuck roasts, tri-tips, moinks, chicken halves and a pile of other things I can't remember.

Summit S-420 Appears to lose heat quickly.

I certainly love mine. I purchased is over a Genesis because I wanted four burners because that is what I was used to using. I swallowed hard at the price, but have never regretted purchasing it. There are a number of things that I prefer making on it over using charcoal such as fish or thin...
