How Right- or Left-Handed Are You?

Frayed knot. Knife always in the right hand. Fork always in the left hand, with the tines facing down. (Exceptions being to scoop up peas). No swapping utensils from one hand to the other during the meal. Not saying that this is the correct way, but it's how it's done over here.

    Manual Meat Grinder

Hi. I'm going to pull the trigger on a manual meat grinder, but I thought I would ask the good folk here for any recco's before I do. I've been looking at this one. It's sitting in my JOSE shopping cart right now. Thanks.

    Kitchen knife replacement thoughts

This is what I use to sharpen my knives. Gifted to me by a kindly forum member. And this is what I use to hone them. Two steels at approximately 18 degrees. The knives pass the tomato test admirably. I am not in any way competent at sharpening knives using a whetstone. I'm not skilled enough...

How Right- or Left-Handed Are You?

A friend of a friend was lefty guitar player. But he played a right-hand guitar......strung for a righty! The low E-string was on the bottom etc etc. I never could get my head around that.

    Thank You Veterans!

VE & VJ Day are not public holidays here. They used to be, but for economic reasons it was abandoned. Shameful if you ask me. Many UK veterans who fought in the Far East, The Forgotten War, are still angry at how they were literally abandoned when the defeat of Hitler & Victory in Europe had...

    Thank You Veterans!

I concur. Thanks to all. Today here in UK was Armistice Day. Today 11/11 @11:00am the nation fell silent for two minutes to remember our Glorious Dead & the end to all hostilities in WW1. Yesterday was Remembrance Sunday, (Poppy Day, where all those who have given their lives or have served in...

How Right- or Left-Handed Are You?

I have always thought of myself as a Lefty because I write left-handed. Lefty shooter, some tools, spoon stirrer/user, throw/kick, but I do a lot of other stuff right-handed including picking my nose. When I was a young 'un at school our teacher use to rap me on the knuckles for writing...

Very close to me Mark. Except all knife work is right-handed, bat right-handed. Everything else the same as you. Weird. Apols for going off-topic. Back on topic: Took delivery of the Wüsthof 10" beef slicer. Feels very balanced in-hand. Nice. My slicing game will be elevated a notch or three for...

    Rack of Lamb (Reverse Sear)

Nailed! Perfectly cooked Rich G. Sunday roast lamb has always been a thing in our house since I was a kid. Still is, & we have Sunday roast lamb at least once a month. Traditionally we eat it with roast spuds, steamed veg of your choice, lamb gravy from the drippings & a tangy mint sauce on the...

Same here. I think that can be classed as ambidextrous. Oh, & thanks a bunch to all you knife-enablers! I've dragged the Wüsthof 10" Beef Slicer from Save It For Later & into my Cart, then pulled the trigger with extreme prejudice!

SouthCo Compression Latch, (Cajun Bandit Door).

Thanks for that Eric. (y) I did view a lot the CAD drawings on the SouthCo website. And a lot of them are of very similar specs. I contacted the merchant that I bought the (14.5" / 37cm) CB door w/latch from and they had it in stock at a reduced price. Trigger pulled. The latch is PN...

Same here. Nothing worse than seeing scratches on a knife blade, especially if it's a decent knife. In the past I have used those wedges that clip onto the blade to maintain the correct sharpening angle, (and in my case, protect the blade), It worked quite well. You can get them for different...
