I may be mistaken, but I think the 330 may be the only enameled Spirit that does have the liner. I have had 4 or 5 of the 330's and they always have the liner. I do recall ever seeing liners in any other enameled lid Spirits.

Not really, just a quick observation. Elaborating a little though .... I am guessing this problem has as much to do with the grill it occurred on as the grease. I feel fairly safe in saying that I have never seen a meltdown this bad on pre-Genesis II series grills.

That's the worst damage from a grease fire that I have ever seen. o_O

I do this occasionally and it works well. Once, I forgot and left them in for about 2 months. Virtually all of the liquid was gone and had turned into a pale green, cottage cheese-like substance.

The good ole days are over. Weber is no longer giving away parts willy nilly. Thin, cheap, rust-prone metal is all you will find on any newer Spirit or Genesis frame or cabinet.
