How many charcoal chimney starters do you own???

Here's a picture of my current chimney family: The smallest one is half the diameter of the Weber, and is ideal for lighting very small amounts of charcoal, like just a handful for the Minion method. The middle one holds enough to fill a charcoal basket, and I use it when I want to grill...

    A smaller charcoal chimney?

I've made quite a few chimneys out of ventilation pipe with bicycle spokes for a grate. Here's a picture of my current chimney family: The grate is made by drilling small holes all the way around the pipe and passing bicycle spoke through. The spokes have an elbow at one end and, once...

    Homemade smoker jacket

The cost was: Fabric: 14 Euros Nomex thread: 2 Euros Grommits: 2 Euros (I actually already had these) Dress makers' fee: 15 Euros So the materials cost 18 Euros (including 22% tax). It would have been very simple to sew together, but I'm not any good with a sewing machine and neither's my...

    Homemade smoker jacket

Recently I posted a topic asking about the sliver smoker jacket because I was thinking about making something similar: http://tvwbb.infopop.cc/eve/fo...80069052/m/331104682 Last week I bought some aluminized fiberglass and nomex thread and took it to a dress maker, along with the original...

    What's Schmokin'/Cookin' This Weekend?

Just be careful not to step in the poodles We had our first snow today. I was planning to do babybacks, but my wife bought bellies by mistake. No long smokes for me this weekend - I just bought some salmon, so I'll smoke that. -Mark.

Wifey bought pork belly by mistake - What to do with it?

I asked my wife to buy some ribs to smoke at the weekend, but she bought pork belly by mistake. I'm going to go and get some babybacks tomorrow, but I wondered what to do with the belly. I've read about curing and making bacon, but I'm feeling too lazy at the moment to try that. The belly is...

    New Splash-Proof Thermapen Question

I have the original version, but if I would buy one today I'd buy the splash-proof. I'd kick myself if I would have saved $20 by getting the original version and then ruined it by getting it wet. -Mark.

    Fixed my wobbly legs.

I thought it would have been quite simple to stop the legs falling out by screwing them in, or wrapping them in foil, but as the grill was brand new and cost almost $400 I thought that I shouldn't have to do this -Mark.

    Fixed my wobbly legs.

I bought a new Master Touch Gold (pimped OTG)recently, but the legs were very loose and would fall off when I picked it up, and the whole thing was just very wobbly. A friend who bought a similar grill at about the same time had the same problem. One phone call to Weber, and they sent us new...

    SJG SJS Differences

The SJS has a single vent on the bottom of the bowl and no lid holder, whereas the SJG has side-mounted vents and a lid holder. There's been plenty of discussion on this forum about the pros and cons of each. I have an SJS and have been pretty happy with it. It's a very small grill, so you can't...

Question about the BBQ Guru Silver Bullet Smoker Jacket

I've found that I can buy aluminized fiberglass locally. It's not very expensive, but it's very thin and only aluminized on one side. I wondered if the Silver Smoker Jacket is made of similar material, or if it's coated on both sides. -Mark.

    Old smokey joe

Excellent find, and 27 years old. What I like about Weber charcoal grills is they're simple, good quality, and work well so there's no need to redesign them every year. Quality never goes out of fashion. -Mark.
