    Question about Stainless Grates.

As the 26 comes with stainless grates, I was sure that the Ranch Kettle would too, but the specs state that it has coated grates - Seems like only the 26 has stainless. I bought a stainless grate for my Performer. They're still available in Europe. -Mark.

Saving coal on shorter burns w/the 22.5"

I've had hd foil burn when I've used it to make a pouch for wood chips. Your aluminium is a little thicker than hd foil, and probably won't burn so easily but I'd prefer to use non-galvanized expanded steel. -Mark.

    Should I buy a 2009 or 2010 Performer?

The sticker's on the back panel - directly opposite the gas controls. My sticker's made of plastic, and looks quite durable. -Mark.

Mountain ash (a.k.a rowan) as a smoke wood?

Interesting article. Rowan is deciduous, so it might be ok as a smoke wood. -Mark.

Mountain ash (a.k.a rowan) as a smoke wood?

Mountain ash is a very common tree where I am, and I wondered if it would be a good smoke wood. Despite the name, it isn't related to ash. I wondered if anybody has tried using it? If not I may try burning a bit to see how it smells. -Mark.

Need help. Which grill to buy?

Just buy a Performer - It's an amazing grill, and then you won't have to worry about wanting to upgrade. When I originally bought a Weber I was choosing between the 22.5" OTS and OTG. In the end I went for the OTG because I saw the benefit of the ash collector. I didn't even consider the...

    Should I buy a 2009 or 2010 Performer?

Here's a picture of my Performer: It was missing the wire rack when I bought it, but one just arrived from Weber. They sent a 2010-style rack, so I have the best of the 2009 and 2010 models - An '09 Performer with a dark side table and a 2010-style wire rack. -Mark.

    Seriously...the Europeans get everything.

VAT is just a type of sales tax. The VAT rate varies around Europe, just as sales tax does in the US. Prices shown in Europe generally include VAT, and the good news is that if you would order something and have it shipped outside of Europe, the shop would deduct this tax so you would get some...

    ammount of smoke when lighting

All charcoal smokes when you light it, but some smokes more than others. I think the smokiest charcoal was some Namibian Intruder Bush charcoal which I tried once. Some cheap lighter cubes also give off a lot of black smoke. Weber cuber give off very little smoke and odour, so I prefer to use...

    Seriously...the Europeans get everything.

You have to pay through the nose for Weber stuff in Europe. The problem is that there's a lot of way overpriced utter junk on the market over here (which most people seem to be happy with, btw), and Weber have priced their products accordingly. -Mark.

Smoked salmon for my 2-year old´s birthday party

That looks good. Since moving to Finland I've become a big fan of salmon. I also like to keep fish simple, but I haven't ever tried using sesame seeds - I might try using them next Time. I always smoke fish in the OTG - It does a really good job. -Mark.

    Modified chimney for Performer?

I just got a new Performer, and have used it twice so far. Both times I used a chimney to light the coals, but I wondered if the chimney would work better with the Performer if the bottom, slotted section were removed to bring the coals closer to the flame. The chimney's designed to be used...

??? for those of you w/ both a gas and charcoal grill...

I've got a one gasser - a Q320 - and 5 charcoal 'things' - A WSM, MasterTouch, Performer, SJS and GA. The Q320 is a really excellent grill, but I almost exclusively use the charcoal grills, which is why I just bought a performer. If a day goes by without me grilling I feel a bit bad. I like to...

    Should I buy a 2009 or 2010 Performer?

I just bought an '09 Performer, so thanks for all the encouragement I'm really happy that it has a 2010 style darker side table, as this was one thing which I preferred about the 2010 model. I put it together as soon as I got home, and found that the wire rack that goes at the bottom was...

    Should I buy a 2009 or 2010 Performer?

Thanks for the input - Unfortunately, the Performer is only available in black over here, but I think I'll go for the '09 since it's cheaper and I prefer the side-facing thermometer. -Mark.
