    stubbs briquettes

It seems they have been replaced by the Cowboy briquettes. If the product is still the same, then great!

Vintage wood handle 18.5" WSM NIB St Louis CL $100

Like a cannonball run? I am pretty sure there are some long haul drivers around that could make it work. Or someone knows someone sort of deal. Shipping it via Greyhound may be the cheapest?

    Hanging on the WSM

Ok... First...seriously consider the Gateway rack. I have a Weber rack and can see a few advantages to the Gateway (which is why i'll order a couple for competition later this year). If you're doing 2 racks of normal spares (maybe 3 comp trimmed) and no more...you can cook them on the top...

    No date code WSM

Take a magnet and try the legs. If they are steel and the magnets stick, you may be on to something special. However, most legs are aluminum and some WSM's in the Late 80's/Early 90's do not appear to have any stamps. I think the unstamped pre-production versions and the unstamped versions of...

    Hanging on the WSM

So with birds or pieces, you don't even need to hang them. Just remove the water pan and cook it on the top grate at 300-325. Ribs on the other hand, I hang and wrap (hybrid method). They are "lights out" good.

    New Charcoal?

I found a single bag at our WalMart for $7.96. I'll be trying it out in the next few weeks.

Can someone school me on the SS performer? What makes it desirable?

I just got a Gen 2 Performer for my in-laws. If the SSP's are lower...man, not sure I'd like cooking on it.

I haven't seen it either, but I'll give it try if I find it.

    Weber Briquettes Thoughts?

I use Weber for long cooks on the WSM or in the vortex on the kettle. I especially like it better than kingsford if hanging ribs.

    How old is your WSM?

One of my 18's is from 2011 I believe. My other 18 and 14 are from 2014. Old one's still cook just fine. I am actually looking for an older one.

    Stubb's briquettes 14/lb bag Lowe's $7.99 5/24 to 5/30

I'd also check the bags! My local Lowe's had 15 bags of Stubbs that were all rat chewed (complete with complimentary excrement). Manager pulled the remnants of the pallet and gave me 8 fresh bags from a new pallet at half off the sale price for the inconvenience ;)

    23 Trout

Excellent catch! Used to trout fish all the time as a kid. Biggest I ever caught was 24" out of Lake Amador from the bank of the dam; high noon with a black rooster-tail (nothing was biting for anyone)...Late Spring of '98. Somewhere...there's a picture.
