    My first charcoal grill

Like Harold said, don't invest a lot of time or concern on the charcoal grate, the charcoal doesn't mind some rust ;). Some time with a wire wheel attachment on a drill will bring the food grate back to life or as Harold said, $15 and a new one can be had at the HD or Lowes. Enjoy.

Which grill to buy for grilling/smoking?

A Performer would be my first choice for the side table and propane assist start. One Touch Gold 22.5 would be my next choice vs the Silver for the ash catcher feature alone. 18.5 IMHO too small for an indirect setup so if you're hopping to do some low and slow you'll need the added space of the...

    will the Q 320 griddle work on the Q 3200 ?

Hey Tim............I hope not. When I bought it I thought I'd be removing it every cook and replacing the grate. Honestly, I find the darn thing so useful I've just kept it there. So nice for doing some mushrooms and onions on the side, or peppers, or a few slices of bacon for burger topping...

    My first charcoal grill

Congrats on your find and welcome aboard. There are a a lot of good people here with tons of experience and they are willing to help - you'll be a pit-master in no time. OTS is a "One Touch Silver" - can usually tell by the simple pan ash catcher under the bowl. OTG is a "One Touch Gold"...

    will the Q 320 griddle work on the Q 3200 ?

Tim, breakfast on it is a beautiful thing. All the bacon grease runs out the drain holes, down in the fire box and into a grease pan liner which I just pour out once cooled.

When was the OTG Thermo Included

So the OTG is home now and it's in good shape. It is an "AU" i.e. a 2012. A few weeks ago a guy was selling his 2004 OTS with 3 bags of KBB for $55 (moving sale). I figure the charcoal (which I've kept) was about a $30 value which means I paid $25 for the OTS. Sold the OTS tonight for $65.00...

    A Q-120 w/stand as main grill?

Used a Q120 as our camping grill for 6 years so I speak with some experience. Only this year with one of my 2 kids now a teen did I find we've finally outgrown it and I moved to a Q200. Mom and dad now use a Q120 (on my recommendation :)) as their primary and love it. My take, 2 - 4 people can...

When was the OTG Thermo Included

I don't want to ask the guy anything..........i's at a price I just want to go grab it before he has time to rethink the price he's letting it go for ;). I will likely just stick my turkey fryer thermo in the top damper - just curious. Once I have it I will run the code and know for sure.

When was the OTG Thermo Included

Hello Approx. when did Weber start including the lid thermo with the OTG? I'm looking at a OTG (used) that has no lid thermo. Seller says grill has little use and it's going cheap - it just doesn't have a thermo. Just trying to figure it's age. My gut tells me around 2009 but I'm not sure. Thanks

    Biggest Cook Coming Up.....Questions???

I love it, I am going to remember this one for future. Basically 3 hours in the smoke and 5 hours braised in beer. Having said that, time is not an issue on this one. The party is Sunday afternoon so I can put the butts on any time Saturday.

    Biggest Cook Coming Up.....Questions???

I hope this is the appropriate forum for the question. So I've done plenty of butts for the home crowd and have it down to a science I think. This weekend coming up I've been asked to do some pulled pork for mom's 75th birthday party where we expect 35-40 guests. Now there will be plenty of...

Help First Cook this Saturday on my new WSM 18.5

Don't sweat it man. This hobby is suppose to be about stress relief.......not the opposite. I've had good success with the 3-2-1 method for ribs. Simple rub, 3 hours in the smoke, 2 hours in foil with a little apple juice in foil (on smoker), 1 hour back on smoker no foil (sauce optional at...

    New Q 1200 Grate Rust

Yup, ditto. To the OP, there's no failure on the grates part, it's just fine, and Weber is foolish to send another grate again proving the people on the phone there too often know little of their product. The same will happen to the new grate if you do not change your maintenance. You need to...

Best covers for Weber Spirit e310

Weber covers are fine. Are they of the same quality of 20 years ago? Perhaps not, but so what, we're talking about a grill, not a $500000 sports car. The Weber cover will do you fine and if not, Weber's warranty will take care of you. I have Weber cover's on all of my stuff, don't over think it...

    Adding wood and "bad" smoke

First I'm going to assume when you say "fresh wood" you mean a new piece and NOT freshly cut i.e. wet. So again assuming you're talking a new piece of well seasoned smoking wood of a proper species e.g. apple, pecan....then yes you can expect some white smoke when it's added. Heavy white...

    New Q model numbers and......

We owned a Q120 as our camping grill for 6 years - loved it. So much we got a 320 as our main gasser at home and replaced our 120 just this year with a 200 for the camper, I on the other hand am a BIG Q fan but of course YMMV.

Got my Pot in... Just a few differences I am seeing...

I've seen successful cookers with both, drilled/cut. Myself I cut mine - it was easy with a jigsaw and fine metal blade. The only issue I've heard with bolts holding the diffuser, is if using clay, the weight over time can cause the sides of the pot to warp somewhat. I've used 3 short bolts...
