Hey everyone. I recently got my hands on a 1983 model 1880 WSM. During the clean up process I determined the cooking grate that came with it is not original. It is, in fact, the cooking grate out of a newer Smokey Joe. I have a 1979 Smokey Joe and the cooking grate out of it fits the 1880 WSM...

I gave a hundred for it. It was more than I wanted to spend, but it was the first 1880 I've seen on CL and I wasn't about to lose it.

Best part is, it has an "E" date code! Yep, WSM number 11 is a 1983 model 1880! Pics to come!

I meant the vents that have the three ridges radiating out from the center. Maybe "ridge-back" vents is a better description.

I drove by the Lowes in Stevens Point WI yesterday. I scored 12 bags. 216 lbs of charcoal for about $40 was a decent deal IMO.

The charcoal is the one that fits on the water pan brackets.
