Got an old WSM from Storage

On all WSMs the bottom of the center section sits inside the charcoal bowl with a ridge towards the bottom of the center section that sits on the lip of the charcoal bowl. The overall design of the WSM is unchanged since the official introduction in 1981. The only real changes on the WSM have...

Is there a third model of the smokey joe?

Glad I peeked in at this thread. Here's what I have found for sure: If it is the old style 3 wheel Smoke Joe, AND it has grate brackets inside like the full size kettles, the cooking grate is a little smaller. If it is a 3 wheel Smokey Joe, but does NOT have grate brackets, the cooking grate is...

Wanted: Cooking grate out of an old Smokey Joe

Glad I found one too. If I'd of had my cranium where it belongs, I bet I was somewhat near you this week, but maybe not. We spent Wed and Thurs in Milwaukee, and drove to Lake Geneva on Fri. One of these days I'll find you, and at least shake your hand.

Wanted: Cooking grate out of an old Smokey Joe

I received the grate from Jim (thanks bud, I owe ya no matter what ya say) but it was still just a wee bit too big. I searched for the Weber p/n for a cooking grate for the new 14.5" WSM. Found one on Amazon for less than Weber was selling them for and ordered one. Also, kudos to Nicole in...

Wanted: Cooking grate out of an old Smokey Joe

That looks like IT! What did you have it in Jim? I don't want to rob anyone of a grate from a cool SJ. Let me know what you have to have for it. Rub? Money? Eternal gratitude?

Wanted: Cooking grate out of an old Smokey Joe

Hey everyone. I recently got my hands on a 1983 model 1880 WSM. During the clean up process I determined the cooking grate that came with it is not original. It is, in fact, the cooking grate out of a newer Smokey Joe. I have a 1979 Smokey Joe and the cooking grate out of it fits the 1880 WSM...

    Picked up a 14.5" today

I gave a hundred for it. It was more than I wanted to spend, but it was the first 1880 I've seen on CL and I wasn't about to lose it.

    Picked up a 14.5" today

Best part is, it has an "E" date code! Yep, WSM number 11 is a 1983 model 1880! Pics to come!

    Estate Sale find, how old???

I meant the vents that have the three ridges radiating out from the center. Maybe "ridge-back" vents is a better description.

posted months ago, still avail "1979 Vintage Weber Charcoal Grill - $80 (Milwaukee) "

Very nice score Jim! I saw that a while back and thought about it and thought about it and thought about it. Just couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger. It's got a good home now!

    Estate Sale find, how old???

Looks like a steel door. What about the legs? Are they steel? Can't be an "A" or "B" because it has a single screw handle. (They didn't make an "A" WSM, and only one "B" WSM that we know of, and it has a two rivet handle) Can't be a "C" or "D" because the handle is incorrect (It has the two...

Who all is ready for some baseball?

I don't follow MLB at all anymore. But High School Varsity Baseball started last night, and THAT is what matters to me! (Unfortunately, the good guys lost last night 5-3.)

    WTB 18.5" WSM dome

That was suggested as well. His response? "Interesting..." I told him it was unlikely we would find a WSM dome, but I had to ask.

    WTB 18.5" WSM dome

He already has a WSM. It's a UDS project and would like a WSM lid to finish it. If he can't find one he'll use a grill lid.

    WTB 18.5" WSM dome

I'm sure this is a long shot, but if I'm going to ask, this is the place to do it. My cousin called me yesterday and is looking for an 18.5" WSM dome for a project he's working on with his son. If any of you guys or gals have a dome that was damaged in shipping or is chipped for which you...

Lowe's Arnold, MO had Coshell charcoal 18# bags on clearance @ $3.20

I drove by the Lowes in Stevens Point WI yesterday. I scored 12 bags. 216 lbs of charcoal for about $40 was a decent deal IMO.
