    Using the lower grate on the WSM

    Todd I like your plan. We use sand in a Brinkman pan which seems to make the lower shelf get more heat and is about the same as the top shelf.

    When I used Briqs I removed but reused them as starter fuel. They tend to absorb moisture from the air when left in the ring. Now I use lump and just shake the ring and fill it up again and relight MM . I use Royal Oak Lump from Walmart and get very good size chunks that burn the same time...

    Well I tried a sirloin tip roast to %145 cooked hot around 325-350. Sliced thin med rare center looked great but !!!!!! Not tender not dry no flavour ( used steak rub ) What should I have done ???? Help please Jim

    Phil : Dang your right mine has NO ANT wire at all. I soldered a wire in the empty hole and ran the wire loop as shown for the original wire in Antons picture and WOW a big big difference in receiver range. Thanks you guys
