    Redhead hunt is over

Yes, the porcelain tray is in good shape as well as the rails. The grease pan holder is shot which is common but fortunately, it's easily replaceable. I have Weberitis. This is my third 1xxx pickup. They're all sitting in my shed waiting for me to rehab.

    Redhead hunt is over

I’m having trouble removing the last burner tube. I did spray penetrating oil but no go. I know you don’t turn the screw and that it acts as a guide but yet I can’t pull it out. Any advice? I’ll search the forums more.

    Redhead hunt is over

It came with two sets of grated. This set which is cast iron. I’ll probably throw them in the fire pit to get them cleaned up. I don’t recall seeing cast iron grates for a Weber. Are they OEM or third party? Then there were these other cheaply stamped grates that I’ll toss. The manifold...

    Redhead hunt is over

Here are pictures of the red head I picked up on Sunday. I’m getting to be a pro at dismantling them quickly to fit into my car. The frame is in great shape. Flavorizer bars are shot. The shelving is in poor shape and the pull up table is missing. The manifold is in great shape. Not bad for $0...

    Weber clearance deals at Target.

I think I rather be cursed and not get 70% off than deal with cold/snow/ice for 3+months of the year. Be careful of what you ask for! :)

    Dual Fuel Ovens.

Ceiling exposed means that you can see the joists (wood) because there's no sheetrock covering the ceiling. Since you don't have a basement, I guess they would run the pipe from the garage through your attic. Or they could run it on the outside of the house. Personally I would go with the...

    Dual Fuel Ovens.

Does your house have a basement and is the ceiling exposed? Look for the gas pipes and see where they are relative to your kitchen. It’s likely black iron pipes, yellow gastite, or copper. Also, what is the size of the piping nearest the kitchen? About seven years ago, I had a gas line...

What Do You Call This Part?

If you had to do it again, which wood would you use? Cedar? Redwood? Or something else?

    Redhead hunt is over

I picked it up last night. Didn’t take any pictures unfortunately and the CL poster deleted the listing. The frame and manifold are in very good shape. The shelves look like cedar from a distance but I think they are painted. The end caps and firebox have the white coating that is common...

Nice pickup. I’m going to get a free redhead later today myself which will be my first one.

What are your favorite or recommended wsm modifications?

The only mods I have done were to add slots for the wires, a temp gauge since mine is an old one that did not have one, and gaskets for the door. I suggest that you look for a Weber 1000 and rehab it as your winter project instead. I have the stock basket and I get 10+ hours without temp...

    Genesis 1000 rebuild/restoration

Very nice work. My only issue is the bars sticking out on the bottom. Do you plan to cut them off at some point? I’m impressed that you do your own welding. I always wanted to learn myself.

Roasted Chicken on the Weber Outdoor Oven

I love using my Weber as an oven during the summer months but I put the roasting pan on a stone to keep the pan from burning. Works well.

I will just leave this here

Before I bought my first house, I rented on a cheap one for a few years. It was a dump that has the washer and dryer in the garage In Massachusetts. Couldn’t use the washer in the winter months because the pipe would freeze. I would take my stuff to the laundromat and use the dryer at home.

    High end dutch oven

I got mine (a nice yellow one) for a good price at Williams & Sonoma in the week after Christmas sale. They discount 40% or more the slow sellers. Maybe you will see some of you are willing to wait a couple of months. I don’t have a matched set but they are all lovely pieces. One is yellow, one...

    Any 4 slice toaster recommendations

Personally, I like toaster ovens over a plain toaster. More useful functionality and you don't have the issue that a bagel might be too thick to fit in the slot. Any reason why you rather have a regular toaster?

    Smoked Chicken Spanakopita

I'll have to try this. I love Spanakopita, especially with homemade dough.

    High end dutch oven

Not sure why some people are recommending oval. Personally, I like rounds better is they match better with burners being round. I think the 5 QT size is the best one and it's the one I use the most in the house. I always new Le Creuset was made in France but didn't know that's also true for...
