How about some good music links?

Two bands I've followed for years. Both have songs currently featured in GM truck commercials: Rival Sons "Pressure and Time" (I like this live version) Tedeschi Trucks Band - "Anyhow" (Live in Studio)

    Lodge Blacklock cast iron

I doubt that's something you'll have to do on the Blacklocks, nor should you expect to at that price point.

    Cast Iron Seasoning

The "no soap on cast iron" rubric likely stems from back when the use of lye soap was prevalent. A lye bath is a popular method to strip old encrusted pans for reseasoning. I haven't found anything that does happen to stick to my CI after cooking that isn't solved by a half inch of warm water...

    Cast Iron Seasoning

Whatever oil/fat you use: thinnest possible layer (apply oil all over and wipe off excess as if you're trying to remove it entirely). Then bake long enough that it doesn't feel sticky after it's cooled; if not, bake longer. When it feels dry, it's polymerized, and that's the goal. Reaching or...

    20 Years

... ago today, I registered here. Coincidentally, over the past weekend, I was at the same hardware store I bought my WSM back then, For $180 new. They had a lot of high end Weber stuff on the floor, but no WSMs. :( I guess Home Depot and Lowe's stocking them is probably the reason why not.

You know you're getting old when...

...when you always refer to a thing as something you "used to do", when you actually only did it once, maybe twice.

    McRib McRIP?

I still like KFC chicken (original recipe only, please), but they really disappointed me years ago when they did away with my favorite piece, the "center breast". Two little tenders flanking the keel bone cartilage. No bones, just delicious white meat. I'm able to wax nostalgic at a nearby...

    McRib McRIP?

So has every other fast food chain. Re: McDonald's. Try a different one and see if you aren't as shocked as we were recently by pricing variations. The same breakfast order (including tax) at three different locations within a month's time was from $10.68 to over $16. The cheapest one finally...

WSM 18” on clearance at Lowe’s

$189 was a good price 20 years ago. And that one had no lid thermo, heat shield or probe port.

    Kitchen Hack - what’s yours?

I like to keep several varieties of Better Than Bouillon on hand. When a jar gets low, almost empty, rather than try to scrape it out (or throw it away) I try to eyeball how much I think is left. If a couple teaspoons, I fill the jar half full with water, cover and shake until none is left stuck...
