First HM Smoke Didn't Go Well :(

Thanks for the reply, Steve. I think I fixed the picture. Sorry for not mentioning this earlier. When I had the HM in auto at the beginning I believe I started at 40% max and tried it down to 20% then 10%. It just seemed to drop the temp slower. You can see after about 17:00 I started...

First HM Smoke Didn't Go Well :(

I'm not sure what to try on my next cook to improve things. It seemed, no matter what PID settings I tried on the HM, the pit temp would just drop any time the blower came on. After a while I just started trying the blower on manual mode to see if I could manually get the pit temp to rise...

    Possible to Reset All Software?

So I've been poking and tweaking the settings in my HM web interface. I was thinking it might be nice to just reset everything to the default settings. Maybe this is a dumb question but how do I do this?

It's Alive! A Little Noob Feedback.

I was able to assemble my HeaterMeter kit yesterday with all the info provided here and the wiki so I want to say thanks to Bryan and everyone else that's share info and experience. My case and blower from Auber should be here later this week so I hope to be able to take it for a maiden voyage...

Auber Blower Size Recommendation for 22" WSM?

Thanks for the additional feedback, guys. Being that I haven't actually used the HM yet that info was helpful. I have to agree that the price of the Auber blower setup is a bit steep. I'm hoping with the silicone gasket they offer with it will seal up nicely on the WSM curved vent. I like...

Auber Blower Size Recommendation for 22" WSM?

Do the fans have any issues running at very low speeds at all?

Auber Blower Size Recommendation for 22" WSM?

The majority of the parts for my HM kit arrived today. Thanks, Bryan. After looking things over I decided I'd like to pick up one of the Auber snap on blowers since it seems like a pretty simple and effective way to attach the blower to my 22" WSM. Based on what I've read so far I assume the...

    Questions before I start

Thanks for the additional feedback, guys. I ordered everything but a case last night. I went with the thermocouple version and picked up a thermocouple pit probe and a few food probes from ThermoWorks. I'm going to see if I can get a case printed locally.

    Questions before I start

Thanks for the feedback, Bryan. I think I understand. The Pi model B option for the kit in your store is essentially the LinkMeter hardware. I'll post here again if I have some more questions.

    Questions before I start

I'm interested in putting together a HeaterMeter but I have a lot of questions so here goes. 1. I assume the kit on the HM store comes with one thermocoupler port and 3 thermistor. Can I get it with 2 thermocoupler and 1 thermistor like Auber sells it? 2. Are the thermistor probes good enough...

Any Must Have or Nice to Have Accessories?

Thanks for the additional feedback. I'll take a look at the expandable rack. I was looking at a rib rack too. I am a sucker for toys and gadgets which is why I'm likely to end up with the HeaterMeter. It looks fun to assemble.

Any Must Have or Nice to Have Accessories?

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I have a ThermaPen and a cheapo probe thermometer from Thermoworks that I use for other cooking but I've been thinking about one of their nicer two probe monitors. Any opinion on the large Weber chimney vs the compact one? I read reviews on Amazon and some...

Any Must Have or Nice to Have Accessories?

My 22in WSM should be delivered tomorrow. It's the smoker I originally wanted, and came back to, after considering a pellet machine and reverse cabinet. Hopefully I can break it in this weekend but to do so I was hoping to get some feedback on any must-have or nice-to-have accessories...
