It's very hard for me to hang it on the bowl. Its very awkward needing to push into it so much. My Kettle is an 08. Have you tried bending the hook? I find it so easy to use the handle I just place it there. It does get dirty though. Maybe just taking off the plastic handle would be better.

Steve, I think the ribbed sections and rolled lips are just a hair too big to work with the kettles directly. Hence, people cut off the lower bowl lip and place it inside the drum or use a 2-3" flat sheet metal inside the inner diameter to create a new lip that is smaller. I think if you cut...

My 98 kettle I got for free has the spotting as well and it doesnt go away. If you rub it with soap and 0000 steel wool it removes most of the crud on the outside including alot of the rust staining. That kettle still has alot of life left in it!

Are the blades installed in the correct order? They vary in height so they barely scrape the bowl. Improper order can cause binding or a bad seal.
