We love to cook pizza in the oven using a pizza stone.
I would like to use the stone in my Genesis, but some suggest cracking is likely.
I’d like to avoid buying a pizza steel if I can
I’ll always put the stone on the grates before I start the preheat, and keep the grill closed afterwards...
Greetings.
I recently acquired a new Genesis that has the stainless steel grates (made of wire, not formed sheet metal)
What is the best approach to cleaning these?
With the old cast iron grates I just shut it down after cooking, then for the next cook I would preheat for 10-15 min, then...
Hi Chuck-
I just checked UPS-- shipping a 7-LB box from Glenburn ND 58740 to my home (zip 93093) via UPS ground is $18.90. I guessed at the weight, and other destination zip codes will be somewhat different. But it doesn't look to me like they are making a lot of profit on that shipping...
I think you are being a bit strong here - the Owens' are top notch folks and accusing them of B&S seems over the top.
Other sellers charge the same shipping charge; I'm guessing it is due to the combined size and weight but don't know for sure.
I agree the shipping is expensive but do not...
I understand the logic, but I'm not all that sure that the temp at a spot on the grill is affected by vent location... although I know that many share your view.
If I had a dome thermo in my ancient kettle it would be a fun experiement to run...
In either event, I suspect you would get...
Can't you just rotate the lid to put the thermo where you want it? The lid just slides into the bale, so no worries about having to get the lid hook onto the kettle rim or anything like that.

I know this is an old thread, but since I didn't see a response to this I thought I would bring it up again.
If two small chimneys get the coals ready faster than one large one, i would go that way.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance...

I'll be interested in your experience with the Duotherm Mordechai; please let us know how it goes.
My sense from reading the boards is that bluetooth technology is marginal for the range that many BBQ users are looking for...
But I don't know much about bluetooth so don't know how much that...
I've been lusting for a performer. So far, no luck on CL but I keep hoping...
One question. I see that the Performer charcoal bin tips out for access, but it isn't clear to me if it seals against anything when in the upright/stored position. Is there a top seal, or is it open?
Just...
From the folks that make ThermoPen.
Basic unit; no wifi, Bluetooth or phone app.
But it looks like a good basic unit.
Not cheap at $39, but probably well-designed and well-made.
For us grilles probably all we need. Probably not for the low-and-slow cooks since it lacks the 2nd channel and...
