Estimating remaining gas in a disposable cylinder

Don, keep a sharpie or other permanent marker with the grill. After each cook, just put a mark on the cylinder. That way, if you know you can get 5 cooks on a cylinder, you'll know right away if you need to have a backup nearby just by how many marks are on the side of the cylinder. Hope this...

    Smoking Wood

Chris, when we say mitre saw, we mean a 10" or 12" miter saw you can purchase at any home improvement store or hardware store. But for the amount of use you are describing, I would just go and buy a simple hand saw. While staying in the mountains last fall, my bro-inlaw and I came upon a few...

    Q300/320

Susie, The grates on the Q trills are raw CI, not porcelain coated like om the (non-portable) gas grills. Season the say tu have done in the past, and all will be just fine. Good Luck, I Maure hole tu like your Q300 as much as I love my Q200! Tim

S J. Gold Mini WSM Smoker

    Build or not?

Carl, welcome neighbor! I would have to agree, the mini is a great entry into the smoking world! Affordable and pretty easy to build, it is even easier to use and make some awesome Q! Truth be told, since I made my mini, I probably use it 3 or 4 x as much as I use my WSM. Like Glen said, read...

    Controlling Temps in Mini-WSM

I would agree with Glenn on this one. I think better temp control was achieved by using less lit charcoal, not the use of a water pan. When loading my mini before a cook, I cram as much unlit in the bottom sa I can fit, (along with my smoke wood) and top it off with 9/10 lit coals. I load all my...

    Chili Cheese Dogs

Don, Great looking meal, and I love the pic in front of the dunes. (It really got me OBX dreamin!) We have been doing a lot of dogs on the grill as of late, its the only way my sons will eat 'em now! If I may, where abouts at the OBX did you stay? We have a place at Ocracoke for later this...

    Leg support

Mike, I have had 2 Boston Bitter in my mini and never worried about the leg strength. I see no reason the mini couldn't support 20lbs of meat.(man, that would be one full mini!!) Tim

Do I leave the propane tank connected at all times?

Fabian, Not sure why, but I have always disconnected my cylinder if I don't plan on using my Q for a few days. Again, this isn't something I've read, just something I've always done. Good Luck, I know you'll love your new Q! Tim

    Bratwurst Burgers

I just saw some of those Brat burgers for the first time about a month ago and wanted to try them. Now I know they will be on the menu at the house real soon! Great looking meal! Tim

S J. Gold Mini WSM Smoker

Tim, just curious as to why you need to fab a charcoal ring? The trick to these little smokers is getting the longest possible burn times out of them, and by installing a charcoal ring you reduce the amount of space in your charcoal bowl. while yes, they really look nice, IMHO, they actually...

    new to me we've q100

Bob, I can't speak for the q-100, but I picked up a 7 year old q-200 off CL and the short cylinders work just fine on it. Have you tried the short cylinders to see if they will fit?

How much would you pay for ....

I think Weber could really find a market if it were to bring back the 1880 (mini WSM) in....(insert your favorite team's colors here) I would buy one in App State black and gold, or even better in Green Bay green and yellow!!! Just a thought. Tim

    New To Me Weber Q200

I picked up my Q200 a few months ago for $50 with the portable stand. I had no idea I would love cooking on this little grill as much as I have. After a good cleaning, it looks like a million bucks, fires on the first try, and cooks like a champ. I waited for about a year before I found this...
