First look at refurbing an older fella

I'd powdercoat those parts now that you have blasted them.

Picked up a sweet Genesis Gold last night!

Was super excited to get my flavorizer bars and grates from rcplanebuyer. Really wasn't expecting this when I opened the box.... Box was a bit roughed up but I doubt anything USPS could have done would cause this. They are HEAVY duty.

Funny how much just a little sheet metal can affect the cost! C is less than 12" longer than the B but the panel cost 5x as much! 1 x Bottom Accessory Panel (60427) = $159.42 (I called Weber and they want $140.20 for it). http://www.ereplacementparts.com/bottom-accessory-panel-p-1476753.html

Gonna do a full cleaning next week and take it all the way apart. Ordered some stainless flavorizer bars and grates and a new igniter kit. Bottom tray is pretty bad, I put my screwdriver right through it testing out one spot. Looks like a new bottom is almost $150 though!

    rcplanebuyer grates/flavorizers - contact info

Also hoping to get direct contact info. Tried sending him my email via ebay and it won't let me!

I just added a set of flavorizer bars and grates to my cart on ebay and the shipping came to almost $36. Does he not combine shipping? I've shipped large 50-60lb boxes of beer across the country dozens of times and never paid more than $30 for that.

You can see it there in the last pic. They are circular spots that seem to have generated from the holes in the bottom panel. I'm guessing those were intended as drainage?

Picked up a sweet Genesis Gold last night!

Found this on our local Facebook "Garage sale" group. Picked it up last night. Cleaned it up a bit after work today and its better than expected! A little Simple Green, some oven cleaner and a green abrasive pad....done! Fired it up and grilled burgers with it right after! There is a bit of...

Hoping to restore my 10 year old Weber Genesis Silver A

Thanks for the info. My buddy has an automatic automotive parts washer so I'm thinking I'll try that first with the grates and see how they turn out.

Hoping to restore my 10 year old Weber Genesis Silver A

Hi, we have a 2003 or 2004 model Genesis Silver A we purchased new. I think it was a special model at the time? It came with stainless steel grates and flavorizer bars. Its in great shape overall, just a bit dirty and there is some whitening of what I think is called the "firebox". What would...
