    Great, thank you to all, appreciate the responses. I have a 20lb bag of Weber briquettes that I'll be using. I also have another brand (local, Australian one, which i've used for lamb & pig on the spit) of 20lb briquettes that'll be on stand by. But yes, point taken re using quality briquettes...

    Hey Fred. This is the method that I want to use when I attempt my first cook on my 22.5" WSM in a few days time. I have a large coffee tin that I want to use. It's 6" in diameter. I'm hoping that this diameter isn't too wide?

Being in Australia, we pay a premium for Weber products (a 22.5" WSM is $AUD999/$USD720). Whilst it's tempting to purchase a cheaper brand in the bullet...
