Well that eBay listing sold faster than I could get my questions answered, so I missed out on it. It would have been an easy way to make the 4.2 upgrade happen.
I'll ponder my next step. I'm not sure if I add the Cat 5 and run the servo off my 4.0, or if I build a 4.2.
If there's anyone...
Hi Guys,
Back after several years. Just fired up my 4.0 and had a great smoke of 2 shoulders at 235 and 4 racks of turbo ribs at 350 a week ago. I got the bug back for taking the next step with my HM. I would love to add a servo damper to better control overshoot & temperature. I had been...
I was able to test the board. 12V in. 5V present at the output connector to the RPi. No 3.3V regulator or leg present. So I'm assuming things look good on the HeaterMeter Board.
When I try to boot up the RPi separately, I get the power LED to come on, but never any activity. I did find the...
I just moved, and am recommitted to getting my controoler fixed. I actually have a 4.0. Can someone help give me a diagnostic recommendation to start out? How do I determine if its the Raspberry Pi vs. the Heatermeter board? And if it's the HM board, are there some points I should probe to...
I am in need of some help from the forum. I've used my HM 3.0 for many a successful smoke. Until one smoke about 3 weeks ago. I had everything set up to go, and the HM in a zip lock bag to keep it dry. Well it started to rain. I got up, fired up my BGE, and plugged in my HM. Unfortunately...
I've been away for a few months enjoying BBQing. I've come back to find a couple of SW updates, and want to update my HM 4.0.
Do I have to update to v8 before I update to v9?
I tried following the instructions for the v9 upgrade, but when I go to System --> Backup, the flash new firmware on...
I've got my 2 favorite alarm scripts running flawlessly thanks to Bryan and all.
1) Texts my phone with any alarm
2) Turn down setpoint to 100 after Probe 1 reaches desired temp.
The one thing I've noticed about both, is that the default script runs that includes the command to re-set the...
What does it mean when on the configuration page, under Heatermeter Information, it says:
Version 20130228B
Serial checksum errors: 5
What does that mean? Should I be worried? What do I have to do to resolve the errors or view the log of the errors?
Matt
Thanks RJ. The guide should help, but not necessarily easy. I dont know if it's easier to copy Gerard H's htm if he shares, or make the changes. But I'll give it a try.
Do you know, can you edit the word 'Current' in the HTM file or is that embedded somewhere else in the code?

Thank you. I took off the RCA. Much better fit. And fixed the ambient temperature issue.
Now if someone could point me to a web page or a step by step to SSH (no clue how to do that) ill be good.
Thanks again.
Matt
Im a bit of a noob with HTML. How do i open that file? In text editor or word? Do i put the IP address first? Just looking for a bit more granular instructions on how to get the file opened for editing. I'm good from there.
One other question. I did not take the RCA off of the rpi. But the rpi doesn't sit flush/all the way down in the mating connector. The rca on rpi bottoms out on the hm board. I think. Is this the way it's supposed to be?
Bryan & All--Many thanks for your help. I have my HM 4.0 up and running. WiFi configured. So far, so good. Only a few questions:
1) My HM reads probe 3 at 258 degrees. This is the probe with the thermistor. It's actually 75 deg. When I plug a probe into the socket, it reads correctly...
