So.. I had the same issue.. I found a cheap fix, I put the heatermeter in a ziplock freezer bag outside .. just let the wires run out the opening.. which I always put facing down.. Works really well actually.
Hi all..
So I have a fully functioning, good to go HM 4.0. So I am rebuilding my deck and I really want some of the features of the new HM (Ok I am putting in a Ethernet jack built into my deck to I can remote it from my house, super nerd) Anyway.. I was just going to recycle the parts, the LCD...
So.. I have to do a bit more testing, but my 4.0 board decided to die in the middle of a cook. Good times I know, works over usb, but not with the AC plug.. Now if I can't track it down.. I sorta want to build a 4.2 build anyway.. So.. I was wondering what parts make sense to take from the 4.0...
I want to also say thank you for the rj45.. Minnesota is the winter is cold... I just wanted to ask, do you have the wiring for the rj45 plug sorted out yet? I was going to modify my current setup and want to make sure my fan/servo/probe connection will be forward compatible.
So I was looking at Tom Kole's latest awesomeness and it got me thinking.. If you have a RJ11 cable for the fan and servo you could make that pretty long.. maybe. Then I have a question, anyone use extensions for the probes like http://goo.gl/PUhnqS . My thought is that if I got say 25 feet or...

Let me first start by saying I agree.. The BGE's price is crazy.. And I did a lot of research .. and really it took me 5 years before I actually bought one, and what kicked me over the edge was a buddy built a new table for his and was getting rid of his table.. So I tested out a lot of...
So I agree it is a bit rough with the tape right now, but it works well.. I was able to do a temp of 210. It slides into the BGE just like the sheet metal that closes the BGE all the way off.
I really wanted a simple cheap connection, I thought it might be fun and help someone else out.
For...
So I recently replaced the cardboard grill connection with a "BETA" version on my permanent connection for my BGE. So I just wanted something simple and I wanted to see if I could get a gravity damper. Anyway here is my parts list.
1. 1'' to 1 1/2'' pvc pipe fitting. It was like $2.50 at home...
+1 from me. I just put it together this weekend. It power up and the one probe I tested seemed to work. Man I was so happy to see that LCD screen light up. Now I just need to make a wire for the fan(BTW is there a picture or directions for this or am I making it too hard?), and a mount for the...
What about the 4-way switch
You said you found replacement parts. What about for http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=SKQUAAA010virtualkey68800000virtualkey688-SKQUAA I have not been able to find a replacement for that, did you?
Ok a 3rd part is out of stock at Mouser.. So I have these parts I need.. and what I think I should replace them with

works for POW DC Power Connectors PCB 2.1MM Mouser Part Number: 163-7620E-E
Well.. I am 98% sure I am going to build one of these.. They look awesome. I have decided to go HeaterMeter instead of the Stoker. Also my 2 buddies who also have the BGE bought the Stoker, so I need to make then jealous.
So.. a few questions.
1. What is Servo Mode, and do I want it?
2. I...
