    Probe Selection / Placement

I also realized (after reading up on noise) that my Auber alligator thermocouple is not isloated - everything I am reading makes me think I am lucky things have worked as well as they have. Could this alone be the culprit?

    Probe Selection / Placement

Interesting, I had not noticed the "noise" icon before - likely been there just unnoticed. Probe 2 is in a typical "grate clip" and Probe 1 being an alligator clip style is clipped right onto the grate clip so they are super close. I can certainly try joining them with foil to see what...

    Probe Selection / Placement

Hello gang! I have been experimenting a bit with probe placement and probe selection more for fun than anything. I keep seeing an interesting phenomenon that I wanted to get opinions/feedback on. In the picture below I have two probes monitoring pit temp. The first "Pit Temp 1" is a generic...

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

First Cook with HeaterMeter and Micro Damper today on my WSM. I am mounting the Micro Damper using the BBQGuru adapter so effectively there is only one of the stock 3/4" holes on one of the WSM dampers available to push air. The smoker came up to temp slowly but eventually made it then hovered...

    Dumb WiFi Question

Great idea, I have a Pi3 with builtin Wifi but adding a dongle is possible and would accomplish what I need. Would be nice if I could just have both AP mode configured and fall back to that if the configured SSID is not found/not connectable - - - Updated - - - Cant believe I did not think...

    Dumb WiFi Question

Tested by booting the HeaterMeter with Ethernet connected directly to a laptop configured with a static IP (192.168.200.2) figuring I could connect to the default wired 200.1 heatermeter IP - this did not work (it linked but thats about it). I then plugged the Pi's lan port into a router...

    Dumb WiFi Question

Dumb WiFi question, presently my HM is running as a client (DHCP) on my home WiFi network. If I take the unit somewhere else what is the expected network behavior given that it cant see my home / configured SSID will it roll back to AP mode with default IP so I can connect and login and...

newb needs help - blower not running (new setup)

Is it a thermocouple model just without one plugged in? If so set probe 0 to disabled in the configuration, when I do that Probe 1 becomes the pit probe.

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

Both the universal and the NPT model files are on thingverse, the store version happens to be the NPT not the universal model. Since I stirred the adapter convo up I will say I decided to go with the NPT model, I managed to get a nice solid connection between the BBQGuru adapter and a copper...

The Adapt-a-Damper - Open Source Project

What is the diameter of the opening on the adapter? Not sure if all the BBQGuru adapters are the same OD (for example the WSM and the ceramic parts both look rather different on the site, only have the WSM in my possession so no idea if they are really different)

How do I know my probes are accurate?

Is the thermocouple reading high or low in a boil test?

Anyone have nice examples of pit probe placement above meat in kamado?

Is it this from the wiki: https://github.com/CapnBry/HeaterMeter/wiki/Pit-Probe-Placement

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

I would love to see it, I have the adapter and might as well put it to use (plus I am not sure why I am such a wuss and dont want to just drill a hole in the WSM :-) )

What is the opening measurement on the universal (not threaded?) model?

New 4.3 Thermocouple Build Reading 218.5 in Boiling Water

Completely valid question, yes I donned my silicone glove (I am a wuss :-) ) and dangled the probe in the water not touching sides and bottom
