Possible to wire a vibrating motor in place of the fan controller for pellet smoker?

I have started using a pellet smoker and using the HeaterMeter to monitor temps. I do not use the fan output anymore. One small thing pellet smokers suffer through is as you get to the last 1lb of pellets, sometimes the pellets do not funnel into the auger due to the design of the hoppers. I was...

Revisiting old topic, Heatermeter for pellet smoker.

Ive now been using a pellet smoker instead of my WSM. So much easier setup, even when using a heatermeter on the WSM. I have been using the heatermeter as a a temp monitor over wifi and it saved my last cook after a flame out. It got me to thinking how nice it would be if the heatermeter was the...

Probes driving me nuts! Does the 4.3 design have better probe plugs?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, This is a version 4.0. Also haven't updated software in years. I never had reading issues with other probes, just connection at the socket issue. This is my first time using the pros. I am using the pit droid android app and I kept getting alarms that probes were...

Probes driving me nuts! Does the 4.3 design have better probe plugs?

thanks! They work great until I slid it into some brisket. The probe keeps going from 50 to 0 and back and forth. If it's sitting in the smoker, it reads correct and never cuts out at 225. I tried with another probe using same port and other ports and the same thing happens. Anyone else have...

Wifi IP only works when the LAN cable is also plugged in

So odd. I disabled the network protection. I switched the interface back to dhcp. It get a new ip of .166. It shows up on the router network map. I cannot access it or ping it. It ONLY starts working once the LAN is connected.

Wifi IP only works when the LAN cable is also plugged in

Hi Guys, I cannot get the wifi on my heatermeter to work on it's own. I have configured it as shown here: https://github.com/CapnBry/HeaterMeter/wiki/HeaterMeter-4.x-Software#wireless-client-setup-via-config-file-step-by-step-easiest-method except that I gave it a static IP (the one the DHCP...

Probes driving me nuts! Does the 4.3 design have better probe plugs?

Okay i got the new probes. They fit so much better. No more fiddling to get them just right. Only problem is I cannot thread them through the pass through I installed in my WSM, bu I can deal with that. What do I have to do to get them to display the correct temp on the HeaterMeter? I am...

Well as mentioned, I just moved and in the process lost my solder buddy. I'm terrible at it myself. Does anyone sell pre assembled boards?

Swapping out Raspberry Pi for a new one

I have a HeaterMeter that I accidentally broke one of the usb ports on the Raspberry pi. I have another Raspberry Pi, the same exact type, sitting around I don't use. Can I just switch out the Raspberry pis? I believe all the software and information is stored on the SD card so as long as those...

Probes driving me nuts! Does the 4.3 design have better probe plugs?

I have a 4.X heatermeter I think. It was built 3-4 years ago. I have the et-72 and et-732 probes and they are so finicky it drives me nuts. Specifically, the fact that if you push them in too far into the plugs they wont work. Plus the probes are erratic when plugged in. Maybe my heatermeter is...

    New Thermoworks probe versions

The Maverick ones are killing me. Always some sort of issue with them. When you plug the Thermoworks ones in, can your plug them in all the way or do you have to fiddle with how far they go into the socket?
