    Genesis 1100 nat gas grill

    I’m thinking because they are longer they make more heat than the shorter type. I’m trying to get lower heat for slow and low cooking. Any ideas ? Thank you for posting.

    Low smoke temp ?

    Starting with a Weber Nat gas grill and heat it enough to make grates safe for food then turn off all burners and put inside a Amazen tube with mesquite pellets burning under some baby back ribs, how low of a temp can I go safely for smoking a while then finishing on hot grill grates ?

    How to make Applewood chunks smoke longer

    Fine, but using a foil packet and it starts to smoke does it stay over a burner or get moved to a lesser heat area to not burn too quickly? Holes on top or bottom. Tks.

    1999 Genesis 1100, open chunks only smoke about 8 minutes then slowly burn to a char with out smoking. Some say soak them, cover with foil with punched holes, put in a box, once flames start then what ? Put up on warming rack to be in less heat to smolder ? Or ?

    Need some help from the Gas guru's on this forum.

    I read more and more about the build up under the lid and then the cleaning process but nothing mentioned about how to stop it from returning again. Isn’t there something to use ? Tks. BW

    Griddles

    Are griddles in restaurants cast iron ? I have seen what looks a wide scraper used slowly to scrape them to clean. I have 9x16 Lodge double sided griddle I have used on my Genesis 1000 Nat gas grill. Would it work better if I wet sanded it smoother to cook on than seasoned it ? Tks. BW

    Did a test. Nat gas grill, mesquite pellets in an Amaze tube and cold smoked 96%hamburger and catfish fillet for over 2rs. Later grilled them on a Lodge cast iron griddle on top of the grates with a un smoked hamburger and another fillet. Yes the smoked burger had flavor and the normal one...

    Sorry but a Tri Tip would be more like a celebration dinner. I need to think of something simpler that’s a good test for the added smoke flavor or not produced like some speak so highly of. Tks. BW

    9-5-23 SMOKE SUCCESS Finally. I was right about my pellets going bad somehow. I bought a new 20# bag of Traeger pellets. Ez to lite, burn a bit and blow out and watch the smoke rise from inside the Amaze tube. Put it on the unlit Genesis grate and closed the lid. Couple of hours later still...
