Thinking of refurbing my Weber 900

I got an email back from Weber customer service. My grill does indeed have a 10 year warranty on the cookbox. They will sell me a replacement for $250 + tax and shipping. The other online grill parts places want $350. As nice as a new one would be I think I’ll keep watching Craigslist. Plus...

Thinking of refurbing my Weber 900

I have tried to registe it but I don’t know if I was successful. It didn’t like the serial number on the registration page but was happy with it on the parts lookup page. I sent an email asking to clarify if it is under warranty. We’ll see… Eddie

Thinking of refurbing my Weber 900

How about that… I did find the original manuals. Still in nearly new condition. The warranty says only 10 years for the aluminum castings. There is a date printed on the manual of “11/97” and I was thinking I bought it in 98 or 99. So like most of my stuff (including my body) it is well out of...

Thinking of refurbing my Weber 900

I am the original owner but I probably didn’t register it and for sure didn’t keep the sales receipt. I think I do still have the original instruction book that came with it. I’ll have to go and look. Btw, those are beautiful handles. I replaced the handle and side shelf once but it is due...

Thinking of refurbing my Weber 900

This is my pride and joy: It is my firm belief that this is the best grill ever made. I bought it new sometime pre-2000 (things get fuzzy that far back) and I have used it regularly since then. It has mostly sat on the patio year round uncovered for 25 years. I replaced nearly everything...

    Weber Style Tubing Connectors

Yes, this is a solid fix. The nuts I used were steel with a nylon insert for locking. Regular Lowe’s stock. Probably would have been better with stainless steel nuts. This grill is my number 2 to get rehabbed and I’ll probably use the inserts. Just finishing up my first rehab for my daughter. Eddie

    Weber Style Tubing Connectors

Several years ago, long long before I found this site, the lower cross member of my grill frame fell off because these little inserts we are talking about rusted away. I asked around but no one had a clue what they were or where to find them. So I improvised. Here is the base of my grill: I...

I bought a grill to rehab

Yes, it is in surprisingly good shape. Very little rust. It must have been covered all these years. Eddie

    Weber Baked Chimichangas

Oh, that looks good. I love chimichangas. I’ve got to try that. Eddie

    Weber Style Tubing Connectors

I used the ones from McMasterCarr but I thought about using these: https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00SHPSED0/tvwb-20 No little lip sticking out... Eddie

I bought a grill to rehab

Started re-assembly. Replaced the frame cross member that the fire box bolts to. Everything is painted. Purchased new SS flavorizor bars, casters, wheels, ignighter box/w button, ignighter rocker button, drip pan, and SS bolts. Stripped one screw on a control valve trying to take it out. Need...

I bought a grill to rehab

This is a question about the plastic/thermolite shelves, end caps and handle. The grill is a 2002 Silver B. On the first picture I posted on this thread you can (barely) see that the end caps, handle and swing shelf are a light gray. The removable work table is the original speckled color. The...

    Demise of the cheeseburger

Some of y’all are sounding pretty close to heretical. Onions have to be fresh sliced or maybe chopped. Never grilled. That is what you do to meat. If they are not fresh then how will everyone you work with know you had a cheeseburger for lunch. Eddie

I bought a grill to rehab

I wish I could find some place that had a good selection of hardware like the old fashion hardware stores. But they are gone. It is true for hardware, electronic parts, wood. Lowe’s and Home Depot only carry what has a pretty high volume and both carry the same thing, actually probably the same...

I bought a grill to rehab

And I really appreciate it and still may take you up on that. I want to see if I can come up with a solution. I’m retired, have a small shop and have time to play. I’ll post whatever I figure out. Surely I won’t be the last person to run into this. I kept looking online because I was...
