I have a 2005 Summit D6 and I love it. Cook on it 3 nights a week year round and have not a minute of trouble with rusting. I think it is super versatile and other than replacing some igniter parts that wore out over time it has been great. Living in Tennessee salt air is not an issue. Mine...
I have been keeping my eyes open for a "deal" on a Performer for about 18 months. I had to drive across the county to get a boat battery from WalMart because my local one was out. While I was there I walked through the Garden Dept to see what grills they had for the season . . . on an isle...
ChesterVargas,
I have a 2005 D6 that is LP from the factory and it works great! I use my grill 4 times/week year round and change my tank about every 1.5 months or so? If you do replace your NG manifold and want to sell yours let me know, I may want to buy it. I am going to remodel my patio...
Jeff,
I have a 2005 Weber D6 and I love it, really my dream grill! I bought it used in 2011, it is made to be built in and I modified it with new Summit side shelves and side burner. At some point I will need to repaint the cast aluminum ends but that is just cosmetics. It has a smoker...
Rebuild it and do it for the fun of it and I bet before long you will find a good use or someone that you will enjoy giving it to. If it is too far gone, make a cool beverage/patio/grill cart!
Let us know how it turns out
Bruce,
I completely agree, those heavy gauge grates do a much better job holding heat and ultimately with the cooking results! I have noticed that on the thick stainless rods.
That is a great model to restore, but that price seems mighty high to me? I bet the issue with the lid could be scrubbed clean or worked out some how but only if the price comes WAY down.
Hope you can find one and get it started soon!
I just got a Lowes email showing all Spirits reduced by $50, this must be the clear out before the new models appear. I don't need one but it may help someone trying to get into a Weber that doesn't have the interest in restoring one.
On my Gold C I didn't take the rails off either, I just cleaned around them as best as I could and made sure there wasn't any build up in the way so the tray would slide easily. I have another one I am about to start that the rail is broken so I WILL be getting into that soon!
