The slats were painted grey when i purchased used. I also thought they were durawood until i noticed some paint rubbing off. The only upgrades left for me are the rcplanebuyer grates & flavorizers. These grills were made great back in the day, don't need much work!!!!
I like your slat idea, thank you. The slats & handle on my grill are all original. Mine came with natural wood. All i had to do is sand & apply spar varnish.
Hey all, so the spar varnish is in great condition, no deterioration. I applied it a little under 2 years ago. Again, i keep my grill outside, uncovered. It's under a covered patio & only gets morning sun. I recommend this product.
Hey Jeff, I think it was the burgers & wings being overly greasy, they were dripping a lot. As for the manual, thanks for checking for my address, I've been looking in my mailbox daily, but now I realize I messaged u incorrectly. Thanks!!
For the haze (oxidation) I used auto rubbing compound to cut a later of it down, then polish, finished by a nice wax, it came back shiney!!!! I like Meguiar's products, but any will do.
Trying soaking in water soap if u hve big enough tub. If not, use soaked paper napkins/towels and stick em like spit wads on a nerds neck. Hopefully it helps loosen things up
Hey all, I saw a display model & new in box 14.5 wsm at Lake Elsinore Wal-Mart $99. In Murrieta they have new 14.5 $99 up on storage rack along garden entrance and 18.5 $199 display out in clearance section. Get 'em!!!!
In western Riverside county I've only seen 14" at $139 lowest. Other sizes I'm not sure if they even carry them in-store. It's hot n sunny here all year long, that's a long BBQ season, they should increase the stock
I went off the label & weber pulled it as a 900, which is in line with the spirit 500/700. The box is shallower than a Genesis. It runs great, but I do think it was isolated to the greasy yummy burgers n wings that dripped too much fat. It's probably the shallow box??
