    First thermocouple purchase

Hey folks, looking to buy a thermocouple probe. Searching for an "isolated" thermocouple on amazon isn't terribly helpful. This one: https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B076PBC7DH/tvwb-20 says its grounded. What do you all think? I don't want to spend 60 dollars on a temperature probe. Also...

    Nobody Breathe!!!

Have you considered dialing back the blower power? I'm no PID expert, but looking at your graphs makes me think this may be a quick fix.

Alerts via SMS AT&T MSG body empty

I have not changed any of the default message under SMS Notifications. I did what you suggested; cutting out the variables and replacing the message text with 'ALERT MESSAGE'. When I click the button to test, I receive an SMS, it displays a FROM field with the configured email address from the...

Alerts via SMS AT&T MSG body empty

Hi There, was just playing around with the alert functionality of my 4.2HM. Ive configured and tested my SMTP email client. I can send email alerts ok. I get the default message body in the email alert. SMS, with AT&T selected as the provider, does not seem to be working so good. When I test an...

How to Set Up Raspberry Pi Zero

Hiya, I was thinking about ordering up a Pi Zero W and a new HM 4.3 kit. The bare bones Pi Zero W doesn't come with a socket for mating to the HM4.3 header. Is there a part number someone might recommend instead of soldering the HM4.3 header directly to the Pi Zero W? Better yet would be...

    Need advice for mounting damper/fan

Hiya, I finally got around to actually drilling a hole in my WSM and am getting ready to mount my Microdamper to my WSM. I purchased two black steel pipe nipples. One is short, like two inches, the other is five inches. I would like to use the smaller of the two but was wondering if the...

    Display AVR firmware version

Thanks for the quick reply, Bryan. I have Version 20160203B. Does that map to: snapshots/trunk/hm-noise.hex ? Should I update to snapshots/trunk/heatermeter.hex from May 13th? Should we try and keep our firmwares at the latest and greatest version or follow the 'if it aint broke don't fix it'...

    Display AVR firmware version

Hi, quick question. How do I display the current AVR firmware version running on a heater meter 4.2 build? Also, when looking at Linkmeter->AVR Firmware, and selecting the online repository radio button; is there any description or release notes for the AVR firmware listed there? Thank you, Billy

    First Run this weekend

Did you have the blower plugged in, in your office? Do you have a blower and damper setup? I've had problems with shorts in the blower/damper circuit in the past, that presented with the same symptoms as you describe.

Brand New Damper Design - "The Micro Damper"

This is a great idea. Personally, I didn't have any trouble with the wiring itself. Its the insulation that is near impossible and has caused headaches. Attempting to solder around the shrink wrap on the male TRRS is a fools errand, if your attempting to wrap each pole individually. I'd love to...

    4.2.4 Resistor Confusion

Glad I could help. The network is a little tricky to set up first time around. Re read the section here: https://github.com/CapnBry/HeaterMeter/wiki/HeaterMeter-4.x-Software with the heading of, Configuration. By default the rPi's ethernet is set to both the IP address 192.168.200.1 and DHCP...

Yes, I know - I couldn't help myself. I'm a real rib roast traditionalist. And the beer isn't helping.
