WSM or Performer?

I'd go WSM. You're not missing anything but a propane assist and a table/storage with your OTG. A WSM allows you to dial a temp and go until you run out of fuel. It's really a different beast than a kettle.

If it were me (and I've made this choice before!), I'd go 22.5 inch WSM. Way more room to maneuver, and it scales down better than the 18.5 inch WSM scales up.

I just think you'll get more versatility with a kettle and a WSM, and this is coming from a guy who smoked successfully in a kettle for 5 years. The WSM is just an entirely different planet of options and control.

Thanks for the responses everyone. My wife just informed me we are having Christmas at our house and wants me to do a turkey.

Now I'm leaning towards 18.5 WSM and ordering the side table and lid slide-aside for OTG. I hear the slide-aside causes heat leakage but if I mainly grill on it (since I will have the WSM by then) I won't worry about that too much.
