I've seen several pics of folks using the a WSM charcoal ring in their kettles... typically as a simply way to layout the coal on the edges keeping the center empty, but also filling it and using various holed pizza pans as diffusers for other types of indirect cooking.
I think I read that it's about $30 from Weber. Would I just be better off heading to a metal shop to get some expanded metal to try and form a circle with? What guage would I use?
