WSM axle installation

I want to install wheels on my 18.5 WSM. I've seen pictures of mods doing this. My question is this: How do I drill the proper angle on the bottom support brackets to get the axle installed in a straight line? Any and all thoughts are appreciated.

Good question!
Here's how I'd do it. Draw a straight line on a pc of plywood or cardboard at least a foot wider than the base. Set your two legs centered or off center over that line and using that as a guide follow that angle with you're drill.
Just eyeball it in other words keeping the drill inline with the line.
Welcome to the board!

Thank you for your help. I installed the axle tonight. Clamped the base to my workbench. Used a series of progressively larger drill bits until I got to 3/8ths (the width of my axle). Eyeballed the angle and level. Worked great! Looks nice too. If you try this, make sure to wear safety glasses as you will you will have aluminum metal shavings flying everywhere.

Next up, flames and a spoiler. Hoongah!
