There was a post some time back that said not to use wild cherry wood. I have been give a whole truck load of wild cherry wood to burn in my wood burner. Does wild cherry wood have to strong a smoke for smoking purposes. Thanks for the info.
 
I know of a number of good competition teams that have or are using wild cherry with great results.
Letting the wood age for at least 6 mos from the time is cut is a good idea. The amount of wood and the condition of the wood is important. Wood that has rot or fungus should be kept out of the cooker.

Thanks This wood was cut down about 6mo. ago because it was dead. It just seemed like a waste to just burn it up. Might have to try a mix of the wild cherry and hickory on some ribs and chickens this week end.
