Wok w/ Genesis Grate 7587 or Summit 7585 Gourmet BBQ System

Curious if there are any Genesis or Summit owners that have the Gourmet BBQ system grate and are using a wok?

If so, can you please share your thoughts?

Things that I'd like to know are:

1.) Does the wok get hot enough to sear foods?

2.) Do you really have temperature control with extremes of low to searing hot?

3.) What diameter wok do you use?

4.) Flat or round bottom wok?

Thanks!

I cannot imagine how it would ever get hot enough in a concentrated spot for WOK cooking. I use my side burner for the WOK. Works great

I have cooked for 20+ years on a real wok with a gas stove in my kitchen and in my humble opinion, there is absolutely no way a wok can get hot enough on an outdoor grill for any reason than being a gimmick selling point. If you must use a wok outside, the side burner (if you have room) will do much better than putting it on the grill. Woks require a concentrated direct flame and the side burner. albeit underpowered, will do much better than on the grill surface.

It's going to be tough on a gas grill as you can't concentrate the heat to one small area. On a charcoal grill like LMichaels said a pile of lump under the center of the wok will get as hot as you could ever need.
