Up here on the north end of the state, wild turkeys have always been abundant. Saw this flock yesterday in my pasture. Just had my everyday lens on my camera when I took the first shot and by the time I retrieved my zoom, they had moved down to the lower fence. I did a rough count of around thirty, not all of them in the pictures. A couple of years ago my wife counted nearly 100 outside our kitchen window.
Dang, Cliff, that's a heap of meat there! I'll bet wild turkey tastes great.
I've seen a few wild turkeys around here, but not often. The state introduced coyotes to western NC years back, and they are more common-place than turkeys. I was hiking the other day, and about sundown, I heard a coyote howling with dogs yelping afterwards.
