A buddy of mine suggest Big Guy's for lunch today, in spite of him having eaten more than a little of my own barbecue and knowing my standards. Worth a shot.
He ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a side of smoked Gouda mac & cheese. I ordered a quarter lb. of brisket (16 hour cherry smoked, per the menu) along with the same mac & cheese and a side of bbq beans.
His sandwich was good, pork was tender & juicy. The sides were tasty, both of us thought the sauce on the mac & cheese was a little on the thin side. The beans were pretty darned good. The brisket.... fell a little flat. It was served as a single quarter lb. slab on Texas toast. It was a little tough, I suspect was pulled out of the smoker too early. Flavor was pretty decent at least, but the single slab really did not eat well at all, IMO.
The menu is rather extensive, and they're open for lunch & dinner, along with a full bar. Kid friendly, and not noisy. Generous parking lot. Staff was attentive, and not obtrusive.
Would I go back? Yeah, I should. Almost certainly won't be ordering brisket, chicken is a distinct possibility as well as several other options for mains.
