Wired heatermeter

I have issues with my wifi so I was wondering if I can run the heatermeter off an extended ethernet cord using the secondary port? I tried connecting it and havent had any success making it work.

Twisted pair Ethernet has a max range of just about 100 meters of cable, and any joints, jacks, splices, etc. in the middle reduce the range rather significantly. The cable does need to be built to EIA/TIA 568A or 568B specs (you need to use the same spec on both ends.) Per Ethernet design rules, no more than 4 half-repeaters between the 2 furthest separated nodes on your network (I rather doubt this is an issue for anybody here.)

Testing, I've had no issues with wired Ethernet on mine, but never in smoker operation.

The Ethernet should work although it has been years since I've plugged one in to test it. The wifi should be disabled (or running in AP mode) to do this though, because they seem to interact with each other badly if they're both trying to be on the same network.
