I've been want to try smoking Tuna or Salmon in my WSM. If I do that will meats get a fishy flavor later on? Or will I need to clean it real well before I smoke meat on it?

BTW I am smoking goat this weekend, I will give a full report. If any Qer's in the middle Tennessee area wanna stop by on Saturday for some goat email me an ***blyons200 at earthlink dot net***

When I smoke fish I usually do it last after smoking other meats. Fish doesn't take to long to smoke. Your smoker will smell for a few days. I usually leave mine open to air out. The next time you smoke the odor will go away after you start smoking. It won't make your meat taste like fish.

Hi Brian,

I've seen posts from folks like Tony who report they get a fishy smell.

I've done several brined and cured salmon, a little bit of tuna and a little bit of cod. I haven't been able to detect a fishy smell. Maybe the smell comes from an uncured/brined fish?

But then again my wife won't go near my gym bag for some strange reason.

My very first use of my Weber kettle was a salmon. Nothing else has ever come out smelling or tasting like fish, except other fish.
