Hi all, I've been offered to buy a rotisserie brand new for $65 but it's made for a Spirit and Genesis. Has anyone done a mod to be able to use this on either a 22 or 18" Kettle before? I was thinking I could get a friend to make me a ring to use if needed but since I've never seen a rotisserie like this up close I can't picture how or if such a mod is possible.

Ron I saw the same rotiss, on CL. I was thinking about but I have a rotiss on my summit and cant remember the last time I used it.

Imho a rotisserie is one of those gadgets that is a waste of money. Nothing against anyone using a roto i just dont see any benefit using one. A beer can chicken tastes just as good if not better than a roto bird.

This is one of those accessories that I've always been on the fence with. For the price I thought why not, but at the same time I was wanting to do Brazilian style BBQ where the rump steaks are set on a roti and then thin slices are taken off as the outside cooks. Almost like I Gyro I suppose.

Thanks for the tip George for the rod brushings. I did a forum search as how to use them and couldn't figure it out or find anything that explained how these would help the mod. Maybe a few hours has calmed the impulse CL buying lol. If I'm only going to use it mainly for Brazillian BBQ style, perhaps I should just save money for a guru or thermapen.

Thanks George that clarifies things for me. I was just looking at some recipes and perhaps I would use it a bit more than I thought. A prime rib on a rotis would be pretty sweet.

I'm a gadget guy and really enjoy the rotis!

I recently picked up a Weber 9890 spit rod & motor for $15 and a 9891 6" Cradle rotis for $20 and am planning on having a ring made to fit my 26" kettle and these should fit nicely!

I used to think Beer Can Chicken was the chit, until I started spinning meats!

Anything you would normally cook indirect will be carry over to the spit.
