wild plum

My dad has some "wild plum" trees he's cutting down on the farm and wanted to know if I wanted the wood for smoking. I said sure, but don't know much about it. I know people smoke with plum, but does anybody have any experience with wild plum? Thanks.

I have not used it but I would certainly try it.
It bears a sweet fruit and that's a good sign.
Try a small amount and increase the amount on the next cook.
