Wicked Good Briquettes

I was at my local ACE Hardware yesterday and decided to go ahead and take the plunge on the new 22" WSM ( Sorry Chris, it was kind of an impulse thing ) Anyway, as I was talking to the helpful hardware man the subject of wicked good lump came up. Then he mentioned that wicked good had come out with briquettes and how much he liked them. He stated that they sold out of their first shipment almost as soon as it came in and he had more on order. Another interesting thing he said is that the people from Alton Brown's show had bought up 4 bags and used it in an episode that will air in March or April.

Anyone tried the Wicked Good briquettes yet?

hey Kevin,

Always nice to see/read you. Hope all is well.

How does the WG compare to Kingsford as far as heat and burn time?

Hi Ken--

All is...interesting. Hope you're well.

Better, hotter burn (with unrestricted vents); less ash. Time seems longer to me but it's been a while since I tried them back-to-back.

When I saw Wicked Good in the title, I figured that Kevin would post...have not seen many from you lately Kevin...hope all is well!

I've used both their lump and briquettes. My opinion is that both are excellent charcoal. Hardwood, burns long, a lot less ash as posted above. Briquettes have been around for quite some time. They used to have some called Competition Blend, but I think the knock on that was it was hard to light. Now they sell some called Weekend Warrior Blend. It is good. If you use lump, their lump is great IMO.
