Whole Quail/Pheasant question

I saved a few whole quail and whole pheasant from last hunting season to try on my WSM. But I'm not sure how to do them and keep them moist. Unlike chicken, they don't have much/any fat.Here are a few ways a friend and I came up with to keep them moist:

1. Beer can style...but with small apple juice cans for the quail.
2. Injected
3. Wrapped in foil with liquid after being in the smoke for...a half hour???
4. Wrapped in bacon

Do any of these sound like they would work or does anybody have a suggestion? I haven't done anything on my WSM but ribs and butt.
 
I second brine.

I have been really enjoying buttermilk brined chicken lately, or you could use a basic water/salt/sugar brine.
