I bought a performer this spring (and fricken LOVE IT). I've been using the little green coleman propane fuel (camp fuel) tanks.

They're typically about $2.90.

I noticed in a lot of the performer pictures here that people are using larger tanks, as well as tanks that look like the ones on a propane torch.

Propane torch bottles are cheaper, about $2 at farm'n'fleet. Do they hold more? Will they work?

Coleman also sells larger propane canisters. They are called "fat Boys" and they are robin egg blue. They last a lot longer than the green ones, and they are almost the same price. I picked up a couple yesterday at Home Depot

The older Performers with stainless tables came with the 5 lb LP tanks. The ones that look like the typical propane tank...just a mini version. These Performers have special brackets on the frame to support the tanks. They last MUCH longer than the little tanks the newer Performers with the plastic tables use.

The Montgomery Farm & Fleet has a 4 pack of Worthington fat boys for $9.99 in the camping dept. They also have a Bernzomatic fat boy for around $ 2.60 a piece in the welding dept.

awesome. so the ones in the welding department will still work?

I didn't know about the fat boys, now I know what to buy when my stash or normal green ones runs out. (i have 3 sitting in the garage)

thanks guys

I was at home depot, and grabbed a replacement hose, and fit it directly onto a performer.

Couldnt you just connect that to a standard size propane bottle? Or would the pressure be too high?
