Which Cooking Grate?

OK, Here I go with my first post.

If you are only cooking a small amount of meat and only need the use of one cooking grate, which position is better to use, The top or the bottom?
 
Go with the top. It is a whole lot easier to get to the meat for mopping, flipping, etc. You may want to leave the bottom grate out if you aren't using it so you don't have to clean it.
