What temperature for smoking striped bass (rockfish)?

Has anyone ever made striped bass on the WSM?
What temperature and for how long?
Did you have water in the pan?

Let me know how you did it.

Thanks.
Mike

Actually never did bass, have done bluefish, mackerel, sturgeon and bluefin tuna, but would do bass about the same.
a light salt pepper, maybe garlic powder rub, water in the pan and as low on the temp as you can, at least under 200.
watch it carefully as fish cooks fast, mild smoke, apple is good but it won't be in there that long anyway so any milder hardwood will work.

Ya'll are different animals than me it seems. I understand the desire to get some smoke flavor on my food and I love to use my WSM 22", but I do not think I would go to the trouble of setting up (and cleaning afterwards) my WSM to only use it for a few minutes to cook some fish. But that's just me.

For the time invested in setting up and clean up (not to mention all the posts I've read that warn not to cook fish and meat on the same WSM), I would not go this route, but that's just me.

YMMV.

Smoke on!
