Whan are briquettes ready to come out of chimney starter?


 
For me when I pre-heat, to clean a dirty grate, I wait till the flames are just likin the top of the chimney. By that time the bottom is glowing orange and the top is still blackish. When I dump the fully lit covers the partially un-lit and by the time the burn-off occurs I always have a red hot fire ready.
