were to get wood

New at this so forgive me if question seems stupid. Were can you go to get some of this smoking wood. Hickory, Oak, and the like. I live in the Buffalo, NY area .... any thoughts

With varying degrees of selection: Home Depot, Lowe's, Wal-Mart, BBQ specialty stores, some sporting and outdoor stores, grocers, orchards, firewood suppliers, Ace Hardware.

Chunks not chips.

Ditto on the chunks. Chips are for cheap electric smokers. Some folk say chips wrapped in foil with holes poked in it works ok. Can't imagine in the WSM.

Try your local golf courses.....especially after a storm with heavy winds. I usually can score a years worth after the first Spring storm.
