I just bought a used Weber S-650 six burner grill. I wished I had found this forum before I had purchased it. Upon finding this forum and doing a bit of reading, I then came to find out that Weber’s supposed top of the line grills aren’t as well made as the Genesis sidewinder that I already have. The fire box has a couple of holes rusted thru near a couple of the burners and the side tables have some dents in the sides. I cleaned up the rust and attached 1/8 steel across the whole front above the burners. Everything on the grill works as it should. Grill frame and cabinet are good also. I am trying to figure out if I should cut my losses now and sell the grill for what I have in it, $200, or try to find a few parts that it does need and keep it for myself. I hear these grills are awesome just the firebox is the weak link. I have entertained buying a new firebox and keeping it. I like the 6 burners, smoker station and the side burner. How long will a new fire box last and how long will my current repair hold up? The model and serial number sticker is completely not legible so I can’t do a warranty claim. Im pretty certain my model number is 1780001.I’m torn and looking for some advice from someone that knows these grills really well.
