Weber Platinum 3200

You make a good point except that I have never seen a Platinum series grill with wood slats. The spacer bracket may not have been an included part at that point, or the owner just didn't put it on. You have the owners manual so it may be in the assembly instructions.

Oh right duhh I need to look.

I always thought that since my 3000 is a 99 and came with wood slats, that everything before that had wood amd everything after had durawood (which I now know is wrong)

I remember, when they sent me durawood to replace my rotted wood, how disgusted I was ahahaa

You might be on to something. Do you know when the serial number sticker moved from the bottom to side?

I can't read anything off the ones on the side, and none of the stickers on the bottom of the control panel have two letter date codes.

It actually has a label on the side of the panel as well. Just a little small sticker with only the serial number.

Ill take some additional pics next time i go to the storage

No, that didn't seem to be consistent either. I have a 97 where the sticker was under the control panel and a 98 where it was on the side. Of course, that may be the answer.

Ok well we know its not a 94 based on what Steve pointed out. That ANS number says 1992 (what even is that anyway?) So it must be a 92 or 93 and purchased in March of 94. I guess im going to assume its a 93 since, would they really be hanging onto a grill for over a year before it sold? Prob made in late 93 and sold in March of 94.

Some owners say they’ve found date stickers on some of these early grills, so look closely for such stickers. Also, since 1993 was the only year that Genesis 1000/2000/3000/4000/5000 grills were not date coded, if you find any of these grills with a serial number beginning with “KL1” or “KN3” or “EK2” or “CL5” or similar, it’s more than likely a 1993 grill. Otherwise, without a sales receipt or a handwritten note in the Owner’s Manual indicating date of purchase, the age of grills made between 1985-1992 can only be estimated as follows:

  • Genesis 1-5: 1985 to 1992.
  • Genesis XX, XXI, Jr. (2-burner): Late 1980s to early 1990s.
  • Genesis 1000-5000: 1993, then date coding begins in 1994.
  • Spirit 500/700: Early 1990s.

Heres the assembly instructions.

Looks like it came pretty much fully assembled from the factory back then. Wow.

There is an exploded parts list but it doesn't show that spacer.

Also it seems like is came with stainless flavorizer bars so I believe mine are original.

The grates are porcelain coated.
