Weber Kettle/Performer Temp probes

How do you guys run your probes for you Maverick wireless thermometers on these kettles? On my WSM I did the slot mod and never regretted it. The lip is different on my Performer but I believe that it would still work but maybe weaken the bowl some. I sent an email to Weber about warranty as I hear this might void it. Not sure how I feel about this. Right now I just route them across the lid but worry this might eventually pinch the leads.
 
I did both my performers with a slot a couple of years ago, no problems at all. I made my slots by the back side of the table near the edge, so the probe wires don't interfere with the table usage
 
Rich, been think of doing the slot mod on my performer like I did with my WSM...you wouldn't happen to have a picture of how it turned out on your performer do you?

Ray, if you don't want to slot mod you could add the Cajun Bandit sensor adaptor: http://cajunbandit.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/quarter-inch-grommets.jpg I bought one to add to my 26" kettle but haven't gotten around to it yet. Have one of these on a 22" WSM I got off CL and it works well. Might consider this instead of the slot mod...
 
Thanks Dustin. I actually have silicone grommets too. I like the slot because I like to carry the food out with the probe in and a pass through grommet of any kind means sliding the probe through.
I would like to see the slot on your Performer as well Rich. Thanks
